Review By “Dantendo”
Hot of the presses, DANTENDO’S 2nd quality review!
Kirby Canvas Curse
Platform: Nintendo DS
Release: June 2005
Kirby Canvas Curse was one of the first games to really break the silence on the Nintendo DS. Aside from the few games that were released at launch, hardly any new games were being brought to store shelves. Kirby took what the DS has to offer and ran with it better than any other title was at the time. First off, only two buttons are used throughout the entire game (power and start), the rest of the game is controlled 100% by your stylus. Awesome.
The main idea is that kirby has been cursed by the evil witch Drawcia, and has turned him into a ball. Your objective is to draw paths with the stylus for Kirby to navigate through the levels. You can draw ramps, loops to make Kirby speed up, and you can stun enemies with the stylus. On top of that, you can copy the abilities of some of the enemies you encounter, turning Kirby into anything from a Waddle Doo (complete with beam firing), to a spiked ball that can grab onto ledges, and even into a missile that destroys everything in its path. There are also some really cool and unique boss fights with old favorites like Kracko and King Dedede.
If you think this game sounds easy, you’re wrong. I finished this game’s story mode in about 6 hours, but then I realized my completion percentage was 16.2% SIXTEEN PERCENT!!! Can we say tons of unlockables? You can unlock lots of extras by earning medals, which are scattered throughout each level of the game (3 per level; some of these are incredibly well hidden.). I won’t spoil any details, but there are a total of 5 playable characters, 8 unlockable levels, health upgrades, and an awesome old-school treat for fans who have been playing Kirby since the beginning. Unlocking all these cool extras adds about 8-10 more hours to the game, turning it into a 15+ hour game. That’s amazing for an action/adventure game on a handheld if you ask me.
Overall, this game is a perfect example of why the Nintendo DS has taken the market by storm. This might very well be the greatest handheld system of all time thanks to top notch games like Kirby Canvas Curse. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 9. Go find yourself a copy of this game!!!!!!!

More Quality Reviews Submitted by Dantendo
One of our readers/writers is at it again. About a month or so back, reader and writer “Dantendo” submitted a quality review of chibi-robo for the Nintendo Gamecube. Dantendo was very elaborate and submitted one of the best reviews I have read in a long time. Well readers he’s at it again! Dantendo has not one but 2-3 more reviews coming on the way; one of which will probably be posted soon. He plans on reviewing Kirby Canvas Curse, Resident Evil DS, and also Super Monkey Ball for DS. In case you were debating about picking up any of these 3 titles, keep it here. Hopefully Dantendo will be able to help you make your decision. Game ON and thanks again for the support. Look for more updates!
