Are Wii Going to get Better Graphics then Expecte…

Are Wii Going to get Better Graphics then Expected?

Check out the story below from Moz La Punk’s Site. Graphics are a hotly debated subject so I copied the whole article. What do you guys think?

It is an issue that has been hotly debated for years, ever since the 2004 Electronic Entertainment Exhibition where Nintendo announced they were working on a new home console, codenamed Revolution. Nintendo fans have been clinging to the hope that the console, that we now know is officially renamed Wii, will be an all-conquering graphical powerhouse. This flame of hope, that they still held until recently, was doused when IGN.com revealed that developers had recieved development kits and that these kits indicated that the Wii will only be slightly more powerful than the current generation Xbox from Microsoft. With this news and the fact that the Nintendo public stance has been to constantly downplay the importance of graphics, the big N’s fans started to resign themselves to this fact, that Nintendo’s next home console would be a graphically underpowered machine compared to it’s next generation competitors from Sony and Microsoft. With the only existing Wii screenshots available being from one game (Red Steel, Ubisoft), it is hard to tell if these claims by IGN were true.

Our sources tell us the dev kit specs that IGN has been touting about the place of late are not final dev kit specifications. The most likely scenario is that IGN has only talked to third party developers and apparently third party developers do not have final dev kits, in fact only Nintendo themselves and their second party developers have their hands on final hardware. Well, that’s not entirely true, we hear Square Enix is the only third party developer to have a final development kit and they have had it for quite some time. People expecting the company’s Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles sequel to be a half-baked, faux FF title are in for a surprise according to the informer.

He also states a lot of third parties have been told by Nintendo to prepare game ideas with Cube quality graphics in mind leading them to believe that was all the horsepower the Wii offered. That coupled with early Gamecube/Wii controller development kits hasn’t prevented this view from spreading but with Nintendo’s proven history of pulling high quality graphics out of limited hardware, our informer’s claims are a little easier to believe. As it stands, only third parties that have an extremely close relationship with Nintendo have been privy to final dev kit specifications he says.

According to this person the Nintendo Wii will be visually on par with the Xbox 360 and may even exceed it slightly. This “mole” also says that the Wii will not be comparable with Playstation 3, which will be a vastly technically superior machine. The Wii has no HD capabilities but it connects to a computer monitor, the informer says this means something…

So why would Nintendo be so secretive with other third party developers who are working on their own console? Could it have to do with the purported “final secret” of the Wii or a new graphical trick or way of presenting graphics? Unfortunately, we do not know and neither does our claimant (or he doesn’t want to tell us). Feel safe that mozlapunk.net will give you the latest news directly as we receive it, no delay. As always, until Nintendo says something, it isn’t true, so don’t take this news to heart just yet, because as experience learned, even MLP informers aren’t infallible.

Another Day and Wii get Another Game

Activision is the company today spilling the beans on their next generation plans. It looks as though Nintendo’s 5th console, Wii, will be getting the popular X-Men RPG franchise coming to their system in the form of; X-Men:Ultimate Alliance.

Discussing the game, Will Kassoy, Activision’s Vice President of Global Brand Management had this to say: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance delivers a new twist on action/RPGs where player’s actions and choices ultimately determine what happens to the Marvel universe. This coupled with the game’s enormous character roster will deliver an action-packed experience that comic book fans have been waiting for”.

I really hope that this 3rd party support that we are seeing for Nintendo’s innovative system continues. Everyone is excited about Nintendo’s future as well they should be. They are not re-hashing the same exact product and are pioneers of innovation. Striving to do something different and making games fun again should be rewarded. Game ON Nintendo.

Tetris DS Tournament

As Japan’s Golden Week kicks off, Nintendo has set up an enormous Tetris DS display to lure everyone who is a fan of the highly addictive puzzle game in. The display, set up in Fuji TV’s home Odaiba, features 10 kiosks in which players duke it out in Tetris DS and become the ultimate Tetris DS champion (it’s probably not as intense as I’m making it out to be but you know…).

All ten games are projected onto an enormous screen, and the winner gets a free t-shirt! Check out the above pic. Looks fun! If anyone out there is looking for aopponentnt in Tetris DS, leave your friend code in the comments section. Simply click on comments and post away.

Resident Evil DS Review by Dantendo

HUGE props for another great review by Mr. Dantendo. The culpret this time, Resident Evil DS. Read on and thanks again for another quality review!

Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
Rating: M
Release: February 2006

The title makes me wonder one thing…Where the hell is all the silence?
And note, I’m not trying to make a pun, it’s just that Capcom really went all out for their latest remake of the beloved Resident Evil franchise. They included the option of playing the (nearly) untouched classic mode, and then the “Rebirth” mode which makes you rethink the way you play Resident Evil. I’ll admit, at first I was thinking “ah hell another playthrough of this damn RE1…” but boy was I wrong. The game starts off with the same cheesy (yet still hilarious) intro movie. And I was amazed to see how well the movie clips look on the DS. Props to Nintendo and Capcom for that. But anyway, after about 30-40 minutes, you realize this game throws things at you that you have never seen before. How about first person hack and slash sequences that pit you against a swarm of zombies that you have to defeat using only your knife? It’s not too difficult to do, but it certainly makes you wary about entering the next room, as these scenarios are peppered all throughout the game and can repeat in the same area twice. Did I mention that you use the stylus to take these threats out? I think that was the most innovative move and they definitely implemented it well. There are also many new puzzles and brand new rooms to explore. The best part is, they managed to add all of these new elements and not even skip a beat. At no point during the game did I feel like I was playing a remake. It feels all new and it’s very refreshing. It may not be as big of a makeover as RE: Rebirth for the Gamecube or as astounding as RE4, but then again you have to think that this is a PORTABLE SYSTEM playing a game that was never even meant to be portable. It’s mindblowing when you think about it like that. I won’t spoil much but let’s just say that the giant snake takes on a role somewhat like nemesis did in RE:3…Watch your step…And when you beat the game, you unlock one of the coolest minigames ever. Let’s hope you perfected those knifing skills!

Considering all of this and based on my firsthand experience with this game, I give it a 9 out of 10. Any RE fan who wants a new thrill out of an old classic should definitely get this game!

Wario DS Wi-Fi?

What a day! I have been going and going all day today; but fear not gamers, I have not forgotten about you. On the contrary, I could not wait to get back and give you guys the news for today. So sit back, relax, put your favorite game on and wait for the updates. I’ll be here for a while updating so stay tuned.

Speaking of updating, everyone’s favorite anti-hero Wario seems to be coming to the DS. We originally gave you the first picture of the game here, but on one of my many adventures today I came across an EB catalog. One of the pages was cover art for a new Wario game for the Nintendo DS. The most interesting thing I noticed was that it says that the game is going to be Wi-Fi compatible. Did I miss the announcement or is this a sign of things to come? Please let me know what you guys think and leave a comment. I know I wouldn’t mind some Wi-Fi mini games starring our anti-hero. If someone out there knows more info, leave it in the comments. Thanks for coming by. Game ON!

(Mind the pic, it was taken from my new Slvr phone)
