New Reggie Interview

This is an excerpt from a recent interview with Reggie Fils-Aime by GamePro magazine:

GamePro: Where would you say the Wii stands now? Did it meet your expectations or exceed them?

Fils-Aime: I’ll be honest with you — I’m blown away. We knew we would sell every piece of hardware put into the market, but we did not expect all the buzz and the advocacy…especially from non-gamers. I can’t tell you how many people I have talked to or read about who played Wii Sports during the holidays and were suddenly surrounded by relatives who wanted to give it a shot. Everyone, from kids up to grandma and grandpa.

We knew Wii was a system for the masses, and yes, we were confident that was going to happen-but this fast? Personally, I’m just blown away.

You can find the rest of the interview here.

Good Stuff in Store For Nintendo Wii

Riding the proverbial tidal wave that Nintendo has been experiencing thus far with the release of their 5th console, more great news is in store for the 4 million (and counting) Nintendo Wii owners around the globe.

Nintendo has announced that the highly addictive Mario Kart 64 will soon be available on the Virtual Console and News Channel will go live on the 27th of this month.

My applause to Nintendo for keeping a steady flow of quality software and hardware upgrades for the Wii. Now give us Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros.

Play the Wii at Six Flags!

Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News) and Nintendo of America today announced a sponsorship and marketing agreement under which the Wii video game system will be the Official Gaming Console of Six Flags parks and Six Flags will offer complimentary game-playing at Wii Gaming Stations throughout select Six Flags-branded theme parks. In addition, the companies will collaborate on marketing initiatives, including a national sweepstakes promotion for Six Flags on Nintendo.com.

Nintendos new Wii system became one of the hottest gifts this holiday. Consumers purchased more than a million Wii consoles in just the 44 days between U.S. launch and year end which represented every Wii console available at retail. As its popularity reflects, Nintendos unique system brings gaming to the masses by providing something for everyone, from the most seasoned gamer to those experiencing video games for the first time.

This agreement with Nintendo enables us to partner with a company, and a product, that has major relevance in the lives of todays families. When this audience is not in our parks, more often than not they are at home playing video games and now they can do both in one place as we continue to build Six Flags into a supermarket of entertainment, said Mark Shapiro, Six Flags President and CEO. This alliance further illustrates our intent to partner with trusted and valued consumer brands that will increase our touch points and expand our reach.

We look forward to continuing to build the Wiis leadership position in video gaming by making the system available to millions of guests who visit Six Flags every year, said Perrin Kaplan of Nintendo America. The Wii system is dedicated to reaching a broad audience, and we look forward to sharing the ultimate gaming system with Six Flags guests beginning in 2007.

New Naruto Screens

Naruto: Clash of Ninja EX will be coming out on February 22 in Japan. No official date for the US has been announced but given the success of the Gamecube versions, expect this one later this year.

I have never played the original 3 titles but they always intrigued me. I have a love fighting games and the art style looks superb. I will have to check out this anime inspired fighting title when it finally comes over here. Enjoy.

New Super Paper Mario Scan

Above is a new screen of the upcoming Wii title Super Paper Mario. Is Nintendo releasing this one to push back Galaxy for Holiday time? Only time will tell, I guess I will be happy either way. I just want to play a new Mario adventure!

Also- it seems as though the title may be controlled by holding the wiimote on its side like an old school NES controller. What do you guys think?
