Getting Wii-desperate? Try taking a rain check

Posted on Dec 15, 2007 07:06:54 PM

This is an amazing story of  how  hard it is to still get  a  Wii.

At 11:04:59 Friday morning, a Nintendo Wii video game system sold for $388, plus $15 shipping, in an eBay auction. Fourteen seconds later, another sold for $390, plus $34 shipping.

Holiday shoppers are turning to online auctions because every new shipment of the normally $250 Wii - the season’s most sought after product for two years running - continues to fall short of demand throughout the United States.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime implored consumers Friday to be patient, saying “if you could possibly hold out a little bit longer, there will be more product available.”

But not enough to satisfy all you Wii-desperate consumers before Christmas, although some of you may be able to snag one this weekend when retailers are expected to heavily promote any systems they have in stock.

IF you want my opinion on this, people are willing to pay $349 on eBay for a Wii but not $399 at a store for PS3…what does this tell the gaming community??
