In case you missed last week’s story, I introduced a new column on the site entitled “Replay Saturday’s” in which your host (that would be me), chooses a title that I haven’t played in a while and gives you impressions that I get for that specific game in hopes that some of you try out the same thing. If you decide to partake in this self proclaimed “replay Saturday’s,” please let us know in the comments section as I look forward to hearing what you guys are replaying.

This week’s title: New Super Mario Bros.
System: Nintendo DS

There is a reason why this title is still selling like hot cakes; it’s a phenomenal piece of work! Super Mario Bros. DS is the pinnacle of what every other 2-D platformer should be… Oh wait, that genre of game is quickly going the way of the doo-doo. In my humble opinion, this title alone can breathe new life into this missed genre and I hope that Nintendo releases a sequel to this fantastic game.

If you are an avid Gameon reader, you will notice that I rarely ever beat any games just because I get too distracted whenever a shiny new title is released (I think I have ADHD….but I digress). When I originally purchased New Super Mario Bros. for DS there was no stopping my quest to save Peach. I still think Peach should upgrade her security system on her castle, but I am extremely happy she has not because I cannot speak more highly of this game.

Currently I am playing through this title again (after all this is REPLAY SATURDAY!), and I am quickly falling in love with the spot on controls and the unspeakable charm that only a Mario title can deliver. I urge all of you who have a DS, please play this title!
