Wii Fit Box Art and Pricing!!

Posted on Feb 20, 2008 09:55:52 PM

Above is what appears to be the final box Art for the immensely popular Wii Fit. The title is set to hit U.S. shores on May 19th and should sell by the truckloads. The game that makes you fit has already sold a tremendous amount over seas and will no doubt break all sorts of sales records here as well.

Recently Reggie Fils-Aime spoke with IGN and has stated that the title will cost “no more than $100″… I am here to tell you gamers that my insider has informed me that the title will retail for a very reasonable $79.99. $79.99 for a the Wii balance board and a sweet new game, Sign me up.

Mario Kart Wii Including “Chat”

online as well as also access and share Ghost Data to download. Why not see if your friends are playing by checking their status or even better still set up a room in which you can chat to them before a “In addition to all this a new Wii Channel, the Mario Kart Channel, will also be launched with Mario Kart Wii. Players will be able to monitor their ranking against others with data compiled from races completed race starts? Players even have the possibility to join in on their friends races in progress as a spectator and jump into the race when the next course launches. Through this channel, users will be exposed to a host of new online features allowing them to join a community of racing fans from all over the world as well as participate in special worldwide events organised by Nintendo.”

Well, it says that you will only chat in these rooms so I’d say its pretty safe to say that there will only be text chat. VoIP would be nice, but by the way they make it sound its not happening. Still though, some form of communication will be nice.

LostWind Takes Gaming World by Force

Posted on Feb 20, 2008 07:14:28 PM

Shvitzel’s back for a bit, baby! I offered to help out with covering the news this fantastic GDC, so I’m here to tell you about a new WiiWare title that has literally come out of nowhere and struck the gaming world on its side. The game comes from Frontier, a leading independent developer, and as so many games work to achieve, the game looks to use the Wii to its full potential. The game: LostWinds.

The game follows a boy, Toku, as he is aided by the wind spirit Enril to defeat the evil Balasar and free the world from a terrifying curse. The game is being called a single-player co-op game where you simultaneously use the nunchuck to maneuver Toku, but then use the Wiimote and motion controls to activate Enril’s powers that send Toku flying into the air, flying over (or into if you don’t aim right) hazards. Wind powers are also used to stall or trap enemies.

As you can see, these graphics are just beautiful, especially for a downloadable game. Additionally, it has been promised that the game is exclusive to WiiWare and will be retailed at a price closer to current VC titles rather than the $40+ we invest on shelf titles. The game is expected to launch with the WiiWare service in early May (as we reported earlier).

Good to be back guys! I’ll do my best to bring you more up-to-date information on games and what comes out of GDC!

Ok, two big Wii related release dates (for North America) have popped up today. Wii Ware and Wii Fit!

After a year’s worth of anticipation, Nintendo’s finally pinned a solid release date on WiiWare and Wii Fit. Nintendo’s original, downloadable games service will be launching on May 12, just a couple short months after the proposed Japanese launch (March). Following a week later will be the health-conscious Wii Fit bundled with Wii Balance Board on May 19.
