LostWind Takes Gaming World by Force

Shvitzel’s back for a bit, baby! I offered to help out with covering the news this fantastic GDC, so I’m here to tell you about a new WiiWare title that has literally come out of nowhere and struck the gaming world on its side. The game comes from Frontier, a leading independent developer, and as so many games work to achieve, the game looks to use the Wii to its full potential. The game: LostWinds.

The game follows a boy, Toku, as he is aided by the wind spirit Enril to defeat the evil Balasar and free the world from a terrifying curse. The game is being called a single-player co-op game where you simultaneously use the nunchuck to maneuver Toku, but then use the Wiimote and motion controls to activate Enril’s powers that send Toku flying into the air, flying over (or into if you don’t aim right) hazards. Wind powers are also used to stall or trap enemies.

As you can see, these graphics are just beautiful, especially for a downloadable game. Additionally, it has been promised that the game is exclusive to WiiWare and will be retailed at a price closer to current VC titles rather than the $40+ we invest on shelf titles. The game is expected to launch with the WiiWare service in early May (as we reported earlier).

Good to be back guys! I’ll do my best to bring you more up-to-date information on games and what comes out of GDC!
