Meh.. i thought it was kind of a let down. =/
I think people were too keen on discovering this ’secret Zelda title’ or ‘Kid Acarus’ game, that they’ve overlooked the innovation that’s once been shown.
Go in expecting too much, and the rest seems not enough. So taking that theory into concideration… a new Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Speak, Motionplus, GTA on the DS, more GH on the way…
…and not to forget Nintendo never announce EVERYTHING during the keynote. Besides, E3 isn’t the show it used to be. Nintendo are all about surprises. If they knew the internet were waiting for Zelda to be announced… then why announce it?
Exactly… hmm… lol, but overall a ‘decent’ presentation. Not legendary like the original Wii reveal, but I was never expecting it personally anyway.
Yeah, but what i look for in something like this is at least one big surprise. Microsoft had two HUGE surprises and Nintendo (and sony) really didn’t have anything big to show.
I also feel like the show was too centered on casual gaming. Yes i know thats a big part of nintendo, but honestly there wasn’t really much for the hardcore gamer shown today.
I’ve made a thread on the topic you all seem to be debating over at the forums. I have something I’ve written for another forum in response to a post made by Bozon on the IGN Insider boards.
For those of you who can’t read it, here’s a summary.
Bozon alleges that Miyamoto said Nintendo will now devote E3 to focusing on games for more casual gamers and new gamers (the non-gamers as you call them). I think this is not only the wrong move for Nintendo, but also one that weakens their messages and only makes me believe less so that they still care about veteran gamers (to use Reggie’s term of the day).
I have no doubt these more intense titles exist and are in development, but at one of the biggest conferences of the year, I expect to be shown them. It shouldn’t matter that E3 has been downsized because guess who your audience for this event is Nintendo?
I encourage you all (if you can) to read the post at the forums. It’s in the Wii board.
Also, in regards to Pwn mentioning surprise reveals and comparing the three keynotes, I don’t see any point in comparing keynotes to see which had the biggest surprises. I mean, we did hear a lot of stuff at Nintendo’s today; my problem was that I knew almost all of it already existed.

Thats the thing shvits. I totally agree with your last statement. Almost everything we heard about was already known or expected. The only really new stuff i found in their presentation was the mic (wich is a lame answer to a problem) and GTA Chinatown Wars (which they didn’t even show).
-The other new stuff just didn’t really cut it. Wiisports Resort wasn’t presented very good. The sword fighting game looked great but am i to expect the other two games to represent the rest of the game?
-With Wii motion plus, yeah it looks kinda cool but now i get to go out and buy 3 more of these. I don’t want to go into something like that to find out that i HAVE to buy something else to continue with my wii experience in the long run. It already is starting to feel that way with the balance board.
-Wii Music, eh? It looked kinda lame. The music plays for you? What? I guess they just didn’t show enough of it because what they did show wasn’t very good at all. I mean, when the six or so Nintendo (higher-ups?) went out and played the Super Mario theme, it was horrendous. They had PLANED it and yet it was still terrible. Is that what i am to expect with the game unless I only let my musicly inclined friends play? Oh, and the drums. For the “Pro drummer” he wasn’t doing to good. That doesn’t put a good impression on me.
- Shaun Whites Snowboarding’s presentation wasn’t to great either. Like I said with Wiimusic, these things are planed out. They should seem like they’re planed out. Shaun didn’t really seem to understand how to play his own game. Another terrible presentation.
- Stop with the stats! We understand how well your systems sell and quite frankly we don’t really care. I don’t want to see the same info they’ve been shoving in everyone’s faces for a while now, I want to see games. Isn’t that what this is all about?
- Oh, and that lady was annoying.
