Game On’s Top 8 Titles That Are Headed to Wii

Posted on Aug 9, 2008 11:41:59 AM

I know what you may be thinking- why did you choose only 8 awesomely awesome titles for the Wii when there are so many games coming to the platform that look promising. I figure in honor of the Beijing Olympics, that started last night (8-8-08), we here at GameOnNintendo decided to compile a list of 8 titles that every Wii owner should put on their video game radar.

I have decided to put the games in no particular order and let us know what you think. Check out the list, after the break!

Captain Rainbow

Why we picked it: It’s made by Nintendo and it’s a brand new IP that looks promising, why not pick it? The title looks to poke fun at a ton of different games from our universe and looks to be a breathe of fresh air. I don’t know about the name of the title but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one. You can check out the official page here.

The Conduit

Why we picked it: Have you seen the video’s of the game? It looks beautiful and it’s a hardcore game built from the ground up for Wii! For years I have been waiting for Nintendo’s answer to Halo and this title comes the closest. The game apparently controls flawlessly and, graphically speaking, looks like a 360 title. Online multiplayer and voice chat will also be supported in this phenomenal title. I applaud the masterminds over at High Voltage for this game. Day 1 purchase for your truly.

de Blob

Why we picked it: It’s a 3rd party title built from the ground up with a long development cycle and looks fantastic. The games art direction looks similar to a animated film and I will be literally painting the town red when this game comes out. Other facets of media have praised this title and all seem very impressed with how de Blob is shaping up. My personal plea to all who are reading this story- BUY THIS GAME! Another launch day purchase for me.

Wario Land Shake It!

Why we picked it: Simply put, I need a good 2-D platformer and Wario Land will fill all my nostalgic needs. This game looks incredible and I love the fact that this title has old school written all over it. It’s always fun to the everyone’s favorite anti-hero and Wario Land will definitely make a splash once it is released here in the states.

Arc Rise Fantasia

Why we picked it: One word comes to mind while picking this title for our top 8 titles; Promising. I am in need of a great RPG for Wii and Arc Rise Fantasia looks extremely promising. Not too much is known about this title and it almost didn’t make our list but something about this game intrigues me (maybe because it looks beautiful). I am watching this game very closely and I hope it turns out to be great.

Tales of Symphonia

Why we picked it: I honestly don’t even know where to begin. If you have played the first game on Gamecube, you will know exactly what I mean gamers. This game is going to be awesome in every way possible and will be a title to remember for years to come. If you have never played the original Tales title for Gamecube, you missed out on one of last generations greatest games. This RPG will get gamers involved with it’s addicting fighting system and its unparalleled story telling. I urge all of you, buy this game, you wont be disappointed.

Oboro Muramasa Youtoden

Why we picked it: Some of you may be thinking- why the heck did you pick this title. There is a laundry list of games that should be in its place but I pleasantly disagree. This game looks to be a new experience and stars a ninja with a huge sword (by default it makes this title cool). As with Fragile, I hope that this title lives up to the underground following it will receive and be a decent addition to our growing Wii library. Impressive 2-D visuals and awesome gameplay make this game worth checking out.

Guitar Hero: World Tour

Why we picked it: It’s Guitar Hero but with a plethora of instruments. I love the series and I love the fact that we will be getting a try at making a whole band. I know some of you may be saying, well Game On there was a little title called Rock Band that has already given us the chance to be Rock Stars with full instrument support. The difference- Guitar Hero’s instruments may actually work!! ( I had a HORRIBLE experience with Rock Band for 360. None of my drums worked and I tried out 3 different games. It makes one mad when you spend all of that money and you cannot get the instruments to work, 3 TIMES!!!!)

Well there you have it gamers our top 8 Wii titles to look forward to. If you think a game should’ve made our list, let us know in the comment section! Game On!
