Wii Wish You a Merry Christmas, Wii Wish You a Merry Christmas, Wii Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Below is a list of what we consider to be the best bet for your gaming needs this year for Nintendo Wii. We have broken down our list of 9 (random Number I know), must-have titles that will satisfy every gamer on your “holiday” list (After all it is October and Good Ol’ Saint Nick will be breaking into your homes soon). So, without further ado, here we go (in no particular order):
**Box Arts represented may not be the final box art for the title**
Sonic Unleashed- 11/18/2008
It looks like the blue blur is FINALLY back and better than ever. Break-neck speeds, great graphics and tight gameplay make this game a must have for any gamer out there. The release date for the title is currently penciled in for November 18th 2008 and I couldn’t be happier. The title combines fantastic next gen capabilities with classic Sonic 2D gameplay! Pick this one on your list.
World Of Goo- 10/13/2008 (WiiWare)
This is a personal plea to all who are reading this “festive” post; BUY THIS TITLE AT ANY COST (within legal limits). World of Goo was developed by 3 individuals and looks better than most “retail” Wii titles. The game recently received an amazing 9.5 from the good guys over at IGN and will be beloved by many. If you download one title this year for WiiWare, let this be it (yes even over the almighty Mega Man 9). Click here to check 2-d boys official site.
Tales of Symphonia- 11/11/2008
If you are an avid reader of Gameonnintendo (And hopefully you are) you already know that yours truly is awaiting this game like the second coming. After falling in love with the Gamecube title, the gaming gods have answered my prayers and are bringing an amazing sequel to one of last generation’s best titles by far. I love the fact that we are going to get to play some of the old cast as well as a slew of new ones. I applaud the graphical style of the title and I am very eager to play this one into the “Wii” hours of the night.
Wii Music-10/20/2008
Ah the red headed step child of the Nintendo Family. There is so much to say about Wii Music I don’t know where to start. I know some of you are already cursing at your computer screens on the inclusion of this game but mark my words, it’s still going to be huge. Remember the feeling when you first put in Wii Sports? I think that IF the gaming community gives Wii Music a try, we may have another “Wii Sports” type feel. This game will be a great addition to your Wii library especially if you have “casual gamer” in your household.
Call Of Duty: World At War- 11/11/2008
Ever since the Wii was introduced, FPS fans have been foaming at the mouth as to the possibilities that the Wii mote and nunchuck can produce on a console based system. The control scheme just seems to fit the console and, after a little over a years time, companies are finally getting it right. If you want a good FPS on Wii this year, purchase Call of Duty 5. Call of Duty 4 owned pretty much 3 months of my life with the 360 release and its predecessor looks to be no different. Great graphics, awesome controls and online play should make this title an easy choice for gamers everywhere. Don’t pass this 3rd party title up, we missed the last Call of Duty title on Nintendo, show your support and buy this one!
DokaponKingdom- 10/14/2008
Ok, so this one may be a long shot of a “must have” title but if you’re an RPG/Party game fan, this quirky title will be right up your alley. The game is described as a Mario Party with an RPG twist, which sounds pretty interesting to me. The stylized characters and the promising gameplay make this 3rd party gem hard to pass up. The fact that this game is made by Atlus does same something for this overlooked, but promising game. IGN seemed pretty pleased with it, so put it on your Christmas…I mean “holiday” wish list and you won’t be disappointed. For all of those still skeptical, make sure you read the IGN article as they said it would be a sleeper hit of ‘08.
Guitar Hero: World Tour- 10/26/2008
Does this game really need any explanation on why you should ask good ol’ Saint Nick for this game? It’s the amazing Guitar Hero franchise with full band support and it looks fantastic. Downloadable content, full instruments and an amazing soundtrack puts this title on top of many gamers Christmas lists for 2008. This franchise has gained mass appeal and is a no brainer for your favorite gamer.
Castlevania Judgement- 11/18/2008
Using motion-sensing, gamers can slash, stab and whip their way across a plethora of stages and environmental elements with numerous surrounding objects as weapons. This first time Castlevania pits players against each other in a one on one brawler that would make any vampire smile. Fun Fact : Players are also able to compete head-to-head using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and connect with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS to unlock bonus gameplay content.
Rygar- 12/09/2008
Action, action and more action. If your gamer craves awesome environments, huge enemies and great boss fights, this is your game. Improving on nearly every facet of its Playstaion counterpart, Rygar looks to fill the much needed need for a great action title on Wii. The games graphics look pretty decent and gameplay should be fun and interesting. Look for this one as a late stocking stuffer. What title(s) do you think should’ve made the cut?!

sonic unleashed and wii music, WII MUSIC!!!! this list is fail like really really fail
Nothing to write home about really is there? Actually, most games on the Wii are either crap or average. This year is nowhere near as good as last year. The Wii doesn’t need any game to sell it, it just sells anyway. GTA 4 didn’t boost console sales when it was released this year. Can’t say I’m excited about many new releases this Christmas….
Did you forget about Mushroom Men and Deadly Creatures? Both of them are quality Wii exclusives and should be out by the end of the year.
This list fails.
1) Mega Man is the Blue Bomber, NOT SONIC. Mega Man had that name YEARS before the first sonic.
2) Castlevania Judgement is crap, it’s a spit in the face of long time Castlevania fans. and you want us to swallow this crap. Nope not happening.
Judgment looks pretty damn cool. The art’s kinda lame (why make Maria a loli?), but it looks like it’ll be fun anyway.
But yeah, Mega Man is the blue bomber, not Sonic. Still, Unleashed looks like it might be a step in the right direction.
c’mon…..Castlevania, Rygar and DokaponKingdom (WTF is that last one, I’ve never even heard of it)
09 is much better.

I thought this was a great list. I think Animal Crossing:City Folk should be on the list though.
Mega Man 9 is probably better than World of Goo.
@ mike
Um…they linked to an article about Dokapon Kingdom. It’s a Mario Party style RPG (no minigames) with weapons, a lot of strategy, and depth. So basically a Mario Party with a little less luck. It’ll be awesome, it deserves its spot.
Please excuse the article writer for a little confusion. O_O Sheesh… Mr. Perfect, I hope you get bashed into submission for every mistake you ever make again…
Just to clear things up:
Blue Bomber = Mega Man
Blue Blur = Sonic
Boy, the internet comes out to bite when it comes to its lists. God forbid someone make a mistake, give a spot to a less known game (Hi Dokapon!), or *gasp* hope for the best from a game with a known brand (I’m looking at you Judgment). Eek!!
-As I’ve already told you GameOn, I’m more interested in Sonic and the Black Knight right now just because I have hopes for the formula building off of Secret Rings. But I’ll likely hold off on a purchase from either until I see reviews and can try them for myself.
-World of Goo will be nothing but epic win.
-Dawn of the New World looks to bring a much needed RPG to the Wii and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
-Wii Music, while I’m sure an interesting experiences, isn’t my cup of tea; however, it’s a force of nature that can’t be ignored this holiday season.
-Call of Duty….I’m thirsting for some local FPS multiplayer on my Wii and World at War may quench that thirst since last I heard, The Conduit was missing that aspect (for shame High Voltage!).
-Dokapon Kingdom is honestly one of the biggest surprises this year for me. It has such undeniable charm and it screams Buy Me for the multiplayer-replayability value.
-World Tour may be my first Guitar Hero purchase (although my no means first experience). Although it’ll be a pricey one.
-Judgment…….I’m skeptical about. I just can’t figure out why Wii didn’t get its own adventure, especially from WiiWare. But the recent TGS trailer has given me some hope. We’ll see.
-Rygar I used to have hopes for. Recent impressions seem to have dashed those. We’ll see if they can shore the game up by release, but otherwise, I’ll save my money for next year’s fare from Marvelous.
Just my two (or twenty) cents.
Mushroom Men: Spore Wars says hello to this list.
