Wired has posted an article
and Nikkei has an article as well. Sounding pretty damn real! I will keep it marked rumor just incase…I’m hoping for a Nintendo confirmation soon.
If this is a fake, it’s a pretty damn elaborate fake…with sources to back up the info with. I am not saying that it couldn’t be faked…but if it is, someone went through a lot of trouble.
RPG fans we all know that the DS is the bee’s knees when it comes to 20 hour adventures and it seems like an age old title is headed to this generations #1 selling machine. That title gamers is Phantasy Star. Further news has leaked out regarding the upcoming Sega online RPG and here it is below:
The game allows for four players at a time, either locally or via Nintendo Wi-Fi via the internet. The title won’t have a keyboard but will allow sketches and words to be sent via a pictochat style system via the touch screen.
Finally the character art designer is none other than the Toshiyuki Kubooka who is well known for his character work on the Lunar series of RPGs as well as for the Giant Robo anime series.
Quick Update: Square Enix, the RPG juggernaut, has announced today that Dragon Quest : The Hand of the Heavenly Bride on Nintendo DS managed to sell a staggering 1 million units in Japan since its release on July 17. We should get more precise sales numbers tomorrow, but impressive non-the-less.

If you’re a fan of tactical RPG’s, then you’re going to love the following story. NIS is bringing 3 new titles that are squarely focused on this generations #1 selling system, the Nintendo DS.
Check out the press releases below:
Rhapsody A Musical Adventure was first released on the Playstation in 2000 as a rare Atlus game that was later reprinted again in 2005. Rhapsody was the first true musical RPG that involved many various scenes of characters singing about their plans and what they were doing. You controlled a female character named Cornet Espoire, and guided her through her misadventures to find a passionate relationship. However the game play is a bit more like Pokémon since you had to collect various characters and so on and so forth. Although the singing parts are more comical then very serious.
Disgaea: The hour of Darkness was another game that was brought to the U.S. by Atlus, and it was released for the Playstation 2 back in August of 2003. Disgaea follows the exploits of two characters a young demon prince named Laharl, and his “loyal” vassal Etna. This was a truely amazing game back in the day that had multiple endings depending on how you played the game, and wither or not you went to specific areas at certain times. I also find it pretty amazing that it is being ported to the DS, and can’t wait to see what they changed.
A Witch’s Tale is Nippons newest game in a while, and it has been said that it is the first Action RPG they are making. All combat actions in the game are controlled by the stylus, so when you run, stab, swipe, and use spells you are expected to execute them with the stylus. There wasn’t a lot of details released about this game. However, what was released was that it is a fairy tale with a dark twist which involves a 1,000-year-old legend about a tribe of powerful witches that used to live beneath our world. One day they invaded, but a mystical girl named Alice used their own magic against them and sealed them away. However, the Queen of the witchs may still be active underground, plotting her return.
I am very pleased to see these 3 titles coming to the DS and I cannot wait until their release. I actually missed out on Disgaea so I am most eager to play that one. More good stuff for DS as usual. Which one are you guys most excited about?
Quick Update: Apparently one of my favorite N64 titles may be headed to a Nintendo DS near you. The rumor stems from the Neogaf forums and also states that the game may come out as early as July.
I really hope this rumor pans out to be true as I really need something new to play on my system. As always, I’ll keep my ear to the ground and let you all know if I hear more. Consider this one a RUMOR for now gamers.
Whenever a rumor comes out, typically the videogame company always responds with these words (and I am paraphrasing here but you get the drift), “We (insert company name here) cannot comment on any rumors… so leave us the heck alone”
A few short days ago we reported a rumor that this years E3 may be the place where the Big N reveals yet a 3rd redesign for their money making machine, Nintendo DS.
Well gamers it seems like we can now officially put the rumor to rest. Check out the quote below that stems from the good guys over at IGN:
“We cannot comment on the specifics of what will be announced at E3,” said Nintendo of Japan’s head of PR, “but at the very least there won’t be anything like what Mr. Hamamura suggested, so would like to clearly deny this. We’re having a hard time understanding what kind of evidence [Hamamura] had for saying this.” Doesn’t leave much room for interpretation, does it?
Representatives tend not to respond so strongly when they know a claim is true, so this seems to put the rumor to bed, though we are left with the question of why Hamamura originally made the suggestion.
They say anything can happen but after reading this, I think it’s safe to say we won’t see a redesign anytime this year. I’ll keep you all updated.
The #1 selling system of all time may be getting another makeover gamers. The rumor all started when Famitsu hinted at a possible makeover for the innovative system and made the statement that we may be seeing it’s new skin at this year’s E3 convention.
As with any rumor gamers proceed with caution but we will keep you all updated. Interesting stuff to say the least.

Do you feel that the DS needs a redesign and if not, will you buy it anyway?
With the recent accolades of the Guitar Hero Franchise being the #1 played game over Nintendo’s Wi Fi connection and with other titles already in development for the series, it was only a matter of time before the #1 selling system of all time received this uber-popular franchise.
